The biggest game of the college football season happened today. It was OSU vs.MI, the biggest college rivalry in history. This was also the final game of the season for Ohio State. After their loss last week, they do not stand a good chance of making it to the BCS National Championship Game, but they came right back against MI.
The Buckeyes took the lead early in the game. MI did not play well for a majority of the game. They primarily played their new freshman quarterback. This quarterback was the third freshman to ever start for MI. In the 4th quarter senior quarterback Chad Henne was brought back to play in his final home game of his career.
Ohio State played phenomenolly well!! Wells, #38, had a total of 39 carries and 222 rushing yards. Vernon G., #50, had a total of 3 sacks on Chad Henne alone!! He was unstoppable. MI lineman adjusted by upping the coverage on Vernon, which led to another Henne sack by al less well known Buckeye player.
OSU kicked some MI butt majorly!! It was awesome. The final score was 14-3. Ohio had 229 yards run and a new record of 6-1 against MI since Tressel began coaching. Ohio still has the Rose Bowl to look forward to in Pasedena, CA in January of 2008. MVP's for the game were Chris Wells, #28 for the Buckeyes, and Tim Jamison, #90, a senior for MI, who had 8 tackles.
The big question of the game was will Lloyd Carr return for another year as coach of the Michigan Wolverines? THere has been talk that he will not return, but no official word has been given yet. Overall, he has a good record coaching, but with MI he has had a rough time. THis year MI's record was 8-4, not what would be expected from a Big Ten team and a Big Ten coach.
Ohio State's final record was 10-1! What a great season for the Buckeyes!! They will be waiting to see who their opponent will be for the bowl game. Choices are: LSU, Oregon, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona State, USC or Oregon. It will be an exciting game though that's for sure.
Thank you Ohio State Buckeyes for your hard work, your effort and your entertainment. It was a great season and I look forward to another. Maybe next year they will be National Champs again.
Go Bucks!!!
